A career shaped by curiosity
Ignacio began his career in production, working in drying processes at the plant. After a few years, he realized he wanted to explore beyond routine operations and started looking for opportunities that would expose him to different areas of the business.
“When I felt I had reached a plateau, I knew it was time to move on and try something new,” he says.
That mindset led him to a role connecting quality, production and commercial teams — an experience that broadened his perspective and gave him his first exposure to cross-functional collaboration.
From there, his career continued to evolve, eventually bringing him into AS&T the technical and commercial space, where he found the perfect balance between problem-solving, innovation, and customer interaction.
For Ignacio, this constant evolution meant that for nearly 20 years, no two days have ever been the same — something he still finds both motivating and rewarding.
“I work closely with clients to solve challenges, but also to show them new possibilities — things they didn’t know they could do,”
Today, Ignacio works in a highly dynamic and international environment. His role involves supporting customers, developing solutions, and identifying new opportunities, often across different markets. By doing this, and thanks to having the entire Application Specialist team today, which enables them to continue growing into new business areas, he was also able to keep growing and developing.
His work spans multiple countries, collaborating with teams and customers in Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia, combining technical expertise with a strong commercial mindset.
Innovation with constraints
One of the aspects Ignacio values most about working in South America is the need to innovate with limited resources.
“In Argentina, we don’t have the same range of ingredients as in other regions. That forces us to be creative — to push boundaries and find new uses for what we already have,” he shares.
Advice for future colleagues
For those considering a career at AFI, Ignacio has a simple message:
“Be curious and don’t be afraid to take the step. If something excites you, go for it. You never know where it might lead. Every change is an opportunity,” he says. “It’s about asking yourself what’s next, what else you can do, and what you’re willing to try.”
