Arla Foods Ingredients is built on sustainability: Our company was founded with the sole purpose of turning whey, a waste product from cheese manufacturing, into new nutritional ingredients for human consumption. Getting the most out of a raw material like milk and whey is the essence of sustainability. If you consider the significant carbon footprint of milk production itself, it would seem almost impossible to accept the waste of the 30-40% of dairy solids that goes in the whey. Today, our sustainability efforts include an ambitious reduction of our CO2 footprint and an ongoing cooperation with international relief agencies to help alleviate the effects of malnourishment in children in deprived countries.

Our mission to discover and deliver all the wonders of whey is an ambitious one. It takes us to places we haven’t been before. But that’s what’s needed if we want to be truly innovative. With our new innovation centre, inaugurated in October 2021, we can take our innovations even further.

Value-adding innovation is evident in our mindset and approach. When we develop new products, it's only the beginning of the journey. We are a little over 1700 colleagues. As you can see from the dots on the map, we are spread globally.

Our HQ is located in Aarhus, Denmark. To keep us in close contact with our customers, we have our international network of subsidiaries and regional sales offices - from South America to Asia to Europe to Northern America.

In 2021, we inaugurated our new innovation center located in Nr. Vium, Denmark. The innovation center is our experimental innovation powerhouse where we discover and deliver all the wonders of whey and milk.

To be able to deliver these wonders to our customers and consumers, we have our production sites with state-of-the-art production facilities that comply with the highest quality standards and are fully adapted to customer needs and market demands.
