Growing obesity drives high demand of low calorie dairy products

1.4 billion people in the world are overweight, and 500 million of them are obese. This this number is expected to increase. One of the main reasons is that processed and fatty foods are getting cheaper and healthier choices more expensive.

This is driving a huge health and wellness trend among consumers, who are increasingly aware of products that benefit their health and physical appearance. A growing group of consumers are more attracted to low-calorie and low-fat claims on products when they go grocery shopping. Especially low-calorie yoghurt is a healthy food product that is gaining ground.

Consumers are seeking healthy products with protein and fibre

48% of the world’s consumers actively control their weight through diet and exercise. The tendency is clear: consumers are seeking healthy foods that are protein and fibre enriched to prolong the feeling of satiety.
