Argentine plant expands again

Joint venture partners step up whey protein concentrate production

An USD8 million investment is to increase capacity at the Arla Foods Ingredients whey processing plant in Argentina by 25%.

Agreed with joint venture partner SanCor, the investment marks the second expansion of the whey protein concentrate facilities in the plant’s 10-year history. Installation of the additional capacity is expected to be complete by the end of 2012. 

SanCor and a number of other cheese producers in Cordoba and Santa Fe provinces currently meet the plant’s raw whey requirements. Work is underway to source the additional whey supplies necessary to realise the plant’s maximum production potential.
