Documenting the safety, suitability and efficacy of our products is a key capability in the Pediatric department at Arla Foods Ingredients.
Documentation is fundamental to our way of doing business within the infant formula segment– providing our customers with highly developed and targeted pre-clinical and clinical evidence they can integrate in their product development and documentation.
Great effort goes into ensuring this core competency. For example, working closely with the University of Copenhagen, we have supported the development of a highly specialised premature piglet model, enabling us to investigate the potential of ingredients supporting early cognitive development in piglets – an excellent model for early cognitive development in infants. By supporting the development of such a highly specialised model, we can investigate both the influence on cognitive development and the mechanisms behind our observations.
Working closely together with key opinion leaders within both pediatric nutrition and animal models linked to early life nutrition ensures that Arla Foods Ingredients can provide high-quality documentation for the role our ingredients can play in infant nutrition.
Arla Foods Ingredients supports the WHO recommendation for exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of an infant’s life and continued breastfeeding up to the age of two or beyond in combination with nutritionally appropriate complementary foods.
