Infant nutrition study with Odense University Hospital expands knowledge in breast milk composition
While we support natural breastfeeding as the first choice wherever possible, we’re always working to come up with diligently tested, well-documented ingredients for infant formula.
Scientific studies are key to developing such ingredients and to ensure their safety and efficacy, which is why we conduct multiple studies every year. For example, we recently co-funded a three-year industrial PhD study of breast milk along with Odense University Hospital in Denmark.
In 2019, the study drew to a close with significant findings that have expanded knowledge about natural variations in breast milk composition. And, during 2020, we’ve been supporting a further study of breast milk from the mothers of overweight babies. The objective is to identify variations in composition compared with the breast milk of mothers with more normal infants.
