‘My ambition is to help the customer build something unique. Using our ingredients, you can really improve people’s lives.’
Mexico and Denmark are in many ways a world apart. But for Mirna Maldonado, the move from the Arla Foods Ingredients office in Mexico City to head office in Aarhus was a lot easier than she imagined.
“My colleagues helped me install lamps, shop for furniture for my apartment, arrange insurance and all sorts of things. At work, we are encouraged to succeed together as a team, but I never expected them to help me so much outside work,” Mirna says.
Further education leads to new role
Mirna was sales office manager in Mexico, where Arla Foods Ingredients paid for her to take a master’s degree in business administration in March 2018. Soon afterwards, she travelled to Denmark and a new role – first as regional sales manager for the Health & Performance team and now as Pediatrics global key account manager.
“Today I’m responsible for developing our long-term customer relationship and building an exciting pipeline – both within infant formula applications and, as we move on, in nutrition for adults.
“My ambition is to help our customers build something unique. Using our ingredients, you can really improve people’s lives.”
Many opportunities to develop
Mirna started out in nutrition research before she got her first job in sales for the dairy ingredients industry. In Denmark, she sees many more opportunities to develop her skills, and she very much enjoys the work culture.
“My managers are very open and clear about objectives. I like the trust and responsibility they give me. It makes me feel even more committed to deliver.”
One big adventure
Although work is busy, Mirna still has lots of time to get to know her surroundings and make new friends. Arla Foods Ingredients also pays for her Danish language classes.
“I’ve joined a yoga class with a colleague, enjoy cycling to work and like walking in the forest –Denmark’s nature is fantastic. It’s a big adventure for me.”
