‘I’m the natural go-to person when colleagues have problems with SAP, and I find it very satisfying to use my knowledge to help them’
A fast-growing, global company needs an order, delivery and invoicing system that runs efficiently and reliably round the clock. That’s what Malene Højlund Lauritsen takes care of as customer care coordinator in the Arla Foods Ingredients head office. Ever since she joined the company in 2001, Malene has focused on the management systems that make the business tick. She’s become a SAP super-user in the process.
In her eyes, it could hardly be a better job.
“I love working with SAP. It’s a system that can handle everything and gives us full traceability back to source. You can do so much with it. Today, I’m the natural go-to person when colleagues have problems with SAP, and I find it very satisfying to use my knowledge to help them,” she says.
The big projects are the best
Big projects that require a whole new system or a major system overhaul are the best challenges of all. Malene recalls with particular fondness the time when Arla Foods Ingredients became an independent subsidiary of parent company Arla Foods. On an everyday basis, her goal is to ensure the SAP system works smoothly for all users.
“We’re always thinking about how we can do things better. Right now we are working on a project to make the order and delivery process even more streamlined. It’s a job where you are constantly challenged and can develop your personal skills.”
Freedom, sparring and great colleagues
Malene enjoys considerable freedom in how she gets her job done.
“I plan my own time and have a very free rein. My manager does not know all my tasks in detail, but she counts on me to do my job. She is also a good sparring partner, when there is something I need to discuss.”
Good colleagues who enjoy a laugh make Malene’s working day complete. She likes the fact that different skills and personalities are met with respect and a positive attitude. It’s one of the reasons why she expects to stay at Arla Foods Ingredients for quite some time.
“I have so many different things to work with here – and I’m still learning,” she says.
