Our biggest responsibility at Arla Foods Ingredients has always been to make the best possible use of whey – our key raw material. Within just a few decades, this former waste product of cheese production has become a source of high-quality proteins, calcium, lactose and other valuable components.
Today, there are many other responsibilities we must take care of as we grow our business. The UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals have set a new agenda for people, planet and prosperity that we are integrating in our business approach.
We are focusing on three goals where we recognise the greatest opportunities to make an impact:
- No. 2 – zero hunger
- No. 8 – decent work and economic growth
- No. 12 – responsible consumption and production
These cover our work with affordable food; commitments to provide a safe and healthy workplace for employees; and continuous improvements to secure a sustainable, transparent supply chain.
As a subsidiary of Arla Foods, we follow the principles for ethical business set out in the Arla Foods Code of Conduct and support our suppliers in doing the same. We are also registered with Sedex, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange.
