| Mengniu Arla donates dairy products
A few days after the earthquake in China, Mengniu Arla held a memorial ceremony. The company has also donated dairy products.
”We’re donating UHT milk and milk powder which the Red Cross is helping us to distribute,” reports Niels Ulrich Pedersen, Managing Director, Mengniu Arla. “The Board of Directors, the leadership and colleagues have organised a collection for the victims, and our business partners have made significant donations as well.”
The local blood bank was invited to the memorial ceremony at Mengniu Arla’s office in Beijing where employees could give blood and this, reports Niels Ulrich Pedersen, was well attended.
A memorial ceremony was also held in Inner Mongolia, where Mengniu Arla’s factory is. Yang Wenjun, head of Arla Foods’ Chinese partner, the Mengniu Group, oversaw the company’s relief effort. |
“He asked all employees to donate a fixed sum based on their salary,” says Factory Director Ulrik Sletten. “We also saw pictures from the earthquake area. It was a very touching event.” In addition to the collection, the Mengniu Group has set up their own crisis groups in the worst affected areas in order to provide assistance.
