New earnings record in Global Ingredients

Besides Global Ingredients' new earnings record which is owing to the substantial price rises for milk powder and proteins in October, Global Ingredients is now expected to deliver additional earnings of DKK 500 million for 2007.

The result is one of the factors behind the increase in the milk price paid to Arla Foods' owners, the Danish and Swedish dairy farmers.

World market prices, however, recently have seen a small decline where the price of skimmed milk powder has fallen from 3.975 euros per kg in August to 3.5 Euros today.
"I expect the price to fall further, to around 3.2-3.1 euros," says Sales Director Thomas Carstensen, Global Ingredients. "This is still high though.”
The slowdown is, in part, caused by higher production in EU and the US, the world's largest exporter of skimmed milk powder. The falling dollar has also been a factor.
